allura

Well I have been a member for a year now and i guess it's time to post some stuff for anyone interested. I never see any Allura people on here so lets hope this thread pulls them out of the woodwork. I bought my Allura 35 a year ago after it sat for 5 years in dry dock. Before it went in this season I did manifolds, risers, tune ups, new batteries, oil changes in trannies and motors, fuel filters, new vhf with dcs, water pumps, all new hoses and belts, changed every bad light bulb, new macerator on the head, new bilge pumps and had the boat cleaned and waxed by a professional crew... Then I took it to block for a week with my family and had one of the best vacations in a long time. Used it all season with no issues until September. The pics are from the very first look and the day we bought it. I'll load some block Island pics when I get on my home laptop.

So now the question is, why is the port engine losing power and backfireing after about 20 minutes of running. Not the coil, not the gas, new fuel filters... what next?

Checked that too. I finally gave up and have the mechanic looking at it today.

So far the engine is still not running correctly. Just found out today that the mechanic can't get there for a while. I'm just going to run it to the marina where I lay it up and they will fix it before it gets pulled. I was hoping for one last trip to Montauk before it was pulled but I give up! Talk about chasing a problem around for months. Problem was, I was too busy to get there myself. Rumor has it the aftermarket electronic ignition is failing and allowing the timing to go out a few degrees as it runs. After a while it is too far out to keep running. I need it fixed now though so I can start fresh in the spring.

Aftermarket electronic ignition? So somebody changed it out after OEM?

What exactly did they change?

Hi-I also have an Alure 35, w/twin 210 Cummins. I replaced an Alura 30 I had for 11years w/the 35. I have two questions that maybe you can help me with. I need to replace the portholes, but cannot find a brand/mark on them. do you know the brand or model of the 35's portholes? Also, on the master switch panel in the cabin, the 110v a.c. main switch is missing - do you know the amperage/brand/model number of the switch? Any assistance would be appreciated.
I keep the boat on the west coast of Mexico, in the Sea of Cortez. I should have her refurbed by july of 2011.
thanks in advance
