Trans seal

Has anyone ever changed the rear seal on a Velvet Drive transmission. I need to know if this can be done while the trans is still in the boat, or do I need to remove it. Any info on this will help!
BTW I have the 1.52 reduction style trannies.

Yes they can, my stb tranny blew a rear seal, same type as yours, was changed out with the tranny in the boat. I am assuming as long as there is enough room to work the trans. can stay put.
