Since 2 of my boat buddies have lost trannys due to the coolers developing a leak and loosing all the fluid into the salt water(youll never know it, will cook clutches etc. before any symptoms while cruising) I decided to put in a pressure alarm to save the tranny--my boat is a 01 and in FL the cooler(or a busted hose also) will be in borrowed time soon/now.
Here s the 1/4npt plug on the ZFs and the sender installed. It takes a 7mm allen(need an pipe extension to get the plug out)
Port was &%#@ to get at on my 32 Open.
I got the alarms from SBMar.com, assure the elbow fitting is steel, Keep in mind the pressure in there is about 400PSI.
I wired it into the overheat/low oil alarm.
Most people put this in after they loose a tranny, I m trying to be proactive for once.

The senders are pricey, about $70 ea. I didn t want to cut corners bacause of the risk of blowing up a cheap one(400psi+, do NOT dream of using an oil press alarm sender)
Also, they have an adjustment screw to set trip point, I set so they barely "chirp" the buzzer on every shift ie. trip point is "right there" so I can catch pressure loss asap.
Got the L at hydralic supply place couple $s. 1/4npt male is on the tranny I THINK the switch is 1/8npt(check).
