Hi
Although I'm on my second Luhrs I just discovered the Owner's Forum! I currently have a 2000 38 Convertible and want to replace the VCR with a DVD player in the salon. The VCR is attached to a shelf which is above the Disc Changer that sits on an AM/FM Tuner Amplifier. These all are to the right of the TV which is attached to a shelf just above the Electrical Panel. Everything is secured and I cannot see how they are anchored or an easy way to remove them. I'd appreciate any advice regarding the removal of the VCR. Thanks in advance.

Ed,
Welcome to the board. Often it helps to post a few pics of your situation to help others visualize your dilemna. I have a 35, so don't have the same internal setup. I did replace my TV with a flatscreen, with the buit in DVD to save space. I'm sure others here with the 38 will chime in.
Again, welcome to the board!

Thanks for the response. I'm traveling now and won't be back to the boat until the middle of August. If I haven't got it figured out by then I'll take your advice and include some pictures.

My 2000 360 C is set up where if you remove the tv you have access to a panel that you unscrew which allows you full access to the VHS and stereo components. Maybe you want to check that method out.

I have a 2002 40 Open and and want to ad a DVD player to the salon TV area.
I have heard that home style DVD players might have a problem with vibration and have been told that I should go with a car DVD player so that it can play while the boat is crashing through the water.
Any issues with home units by anyone as I would prefer to put one of these in the boat.
Thanks for any replies/

I have had my 2002 40 Express now for two seasons with a home DVD unit. I am a canyon dweller and have been out there in 12 foot plus waves. My boat has taken a beating. In fact on one trip back from the canyon in 10 to 12 ft seas, we hit so hard one time that the fresh water tank ruptured (talk about a big job getting to that). However, the $70 home DVD player still works fine.

if it helps, I just pulled the old tv for replacement. It was held in place by vercro, Slip a thin flat object under the unit and see if it lifts.

I have the same boat except mines a 40 convertible.Took out all the tuner, stereo, changer and old school tv.Put in a 37" Samsung LCD.Had to trim the cutout larger.Ended up with about 1/2 foot that i turned into pidgeon holes/pockets with a Playstation 3 in one of them standing upright. Then in the furtherest door bottom right fited a Mini HiFI stereo/CD with ipod dock.Connected all the original speakers and din't use the mini speakers that came with the Mini system.Works fantastic.Let me know if you want photos and i'll get some.
