View Full Version : What size Props?
I would like to buy an extra set of props as spares. I do not remember the specs on my existing props and not ready to pull them.
Can anyone suggest size and pitch for 34 ft express fish, twin 454 Marine Power engines, 800 hours, good running.

Not sure if they are the same but I have 18x18's on my 1988 342 Tournament. Original Crusaders 350 hp (454 cid). Might be a tad too much however, WOT is only 3800 rpms. Your express may be a little lighter so may see better performance.

Ill need your hull number. I cant find anything here at the plant that goes back that far. Im going to have to go to our archive storage here within the next few days and would be glad to pull the file and look while Im there.
Reel Deals, Thanks for your help, the Hull # is 925825.
I found an old bill for reconditioning props by a local prop shop, does 16X17X3 sound right??

JMAS, Sorry for the delayed reply. Ive been out of town and getting away from my desk for a while has me a little covered up. I was over at the archive room yesterday and was unable to find your hull file. Im not sure if we maintain files 20 years so Ill have to find out. If I can come up with anything I will certainly let you know. -Jeff
Reel Deals,
Thanks for taking the time to research this. I have a decent set of props on the boat and I am not planing any long trips in the near future so don't go out of your way. If you come across any info, I would appreciate it.
If there is anyone on this Forum with 34', Maybe they may have some info.

After MUCH experimenting, am now running 20 X 16 three blades. 1991 3400 with twin 320hp and 150:1 transmissions. Boat came with 17 X 14...nowhere near enough prop. I can only get 4100 rpm but cruises nice at 20mph and 2900 rpm !

JMAS,
We did not run Marine Power 454. We ran Crusader 350's. The props for that set-up was 18 x 17 3-Blade. Hope that gives you some sort of starting point.
