Name is Joe. I live in Plantation FL but boat is docked in Pompano. I own a 1987 Luhrs 340 Express Fisherman. I love the boat and enjoy crossing the stream to Bimini and Freeport, as well as fishing along South Florida coast. I enjoy doing my own maintinace and repairs on the boat. Owning a machine shop is a plus for me when certain things need fixing.

Joe,
It was alot of both..... We ran from Boynton to West Palm the first afternoon and anchored out for the night. The next day we ran inside all the way to Ponce Inlet (160ish miles) and stayed at a marina there. The next day we ran offshore from Ponce inlet to Charleston. We appeared to run out of fuel at the mouth of Charleston harbor (268 miles) and had to be towed in to a marina by Sea Tow in a horrific storm. Not sure about the fuel issue because I understand that the boat holds 390 gallons, but it only took in 320 when we filled her back up. By my fuel estimations we should have had plenty of fuel for the day. I still havent figured this one out.
The next day we ran inshore up to Georgetown. We just barely brushed the bottom at idle speed at the Sampit near Georgetown, SC in an extremely poorly marked area. It blew out the starboard cutless bearing and we had to limp up the Myrtle Beach, SC. I knew the bearing was bad and needed to be repaired because it was identified by my surveyor during the purchase survey.
In Myrtle Beach they hauled it out the next day, fixed the bearing, popped on two new props (Which I wanted to have anyway, just not that soon). I was on the way the next afternoon and finished the trip to Carolina Beach.
So, even with the delay in MB, we still made it in about 5 days. With the exception of the two incidents described above... the boat ran great and the scenery was awesome.
