I'm looking to upgrade from my current 26 ft to something more family and canyon friendly. The new 37' looks perfect and I have arranged for an upcoming test drive. In the meantime, I would love general feedback on Luhr's quality as well as to hear specifically from 37 CE owners.

My biggest concern at the moment is the clear price difference when looking at Luhr's vs. some other brands - Cabo, Carolina Classic, etc. Does the lower price come with lower quality/more issues?

Luhrs boats are typically slammed for this reason (Price). Luhrs used to build pretty price value boats and unfortunatly the old label still follows the brand to some extent.

In the past 15 or so years, Luhrs has really started building a much better boat. In some cases you are really paying for fit and finish such as exotic interiors and such. When you break it down, most of the componenets used in building a boat are the same. They use the same engines, steering systems, etc etc.

When you buy a boat, think of it as buying anything else on the market. If you buy a Cabo, you are buying a Mercedes or BMW, etc, when you buy a Luhrs you move into a Toyota.

It's still a very good boat a priced a bit more competitive.

Are you the 37 with IPS system or outboards?

I am on my 2nd Luhrs 38 and have put in excess of 4800 hours on the two boats.
The quality is medium to better. They stand by their product. They are a great hull and fish well.
The difference in price from the Luhrs to a Cabo or Viking is huge.
My 2006 has the IPS system which is amazing in it's own right. Fast, quiet, and efficient.
I looked hard at the premium brands and still came back to Luhrs, just more bang for the buck.
The 37 looks great and appears to be a well designed boat.
Good luck in your search.

This is great feedback. I am not interested in the outboard version. Glad to hear the IPS is working for you as it is one of the selling points for me.

Thank you.

Which 37 are you planning on doing the Sea Trail with? Since the manufacturing has moved to Silverton , they have made some nice changes to the boat. Where do you do your boating?
