We are avid divers and want to add a swim platform and dive ladder. Is there anything we should be concerned about? We are looking at a platform 20-24" deep and bringing it is about 2" from each side. The frame would be aluminum and we want to have the ladder permanently attached as a solid 3-4 step ladder which we would secure to the platform while underway.
We just want to make sure don't do something too large and create drag on the boat.
Has anyone doen something other than the standard fiberglass platforms and telescoping ladders?

I don't think you will have a drag issue if he platform is installed correctly and above the water line.
1 very important thing is to ensure it's bonded properly or you might have some issues.

Suggest you use stainless steel and not aluminum. Aluminum supports will be eaten away within 2 years if you are in saltwater.

Thanks for the replies. We opted for aluminum because of how we wanted the platform fabricated. We will operate in salt water but our vessel is stored in a fresh water canal and we are etching, priming and painting the the support system for the platform. We will gaul the boat out annually and got through normal maintenance, for the poeple in this area they seemd ot have good results with alumin a long as the boat is well maintained.

Did you do a custom swim platform for the 290 tourament. If, yes, is there a pattern made up I could get your manufacturer to make me one. I am okay with alum
