We just purchased a 1992 29ft Open Tournament and want to make some modifications.

We live in a community where our boat goes through a lift into a fresh water canal behind our house and therefore need to hinge the tuna tower so we can get it through the lift. Has anyone done this and if so how did accomplish it and/or do you have photos?

We havespoken to an alumin fabrictor who says he can hings the top for us but I am curious as to whether anyone else has tried this.

I have a 95 open tournament and my tower hinges nicely to allow passage under lower bridges. Works nicely but the the buggy top is a bit heavy, and is really a two person job. One to stand on the bow with a line tide to the top and one to release the pins and "catch" the top as it hinges back.

Good luck.

Thanksfor the reply, we opted to have an aluminum fabrictor make hinges for us and install, we should have it completed in July and I will post some photos. He is using a bery heavy duty hinge and we are install rings at the front of the tower to make the top easier to raise and lower.
