We recently purchased this 1959 lapstrake Luhrs sea skiff with hardtop, 27 feet overall, still powered by what we believe is the original Chrysler Crown flathead-six engine...and we just love the boat!

Not having seen other wooden Luhrs boats on this forum, we're curious to know if any of you might have a boat like ours, or perhaps some information/photos of early Luhrs resembling our boat?

The Luhrs has a nice forepeak berth, head, folding helm seats, mahogany box over the engine, generous stern cockpit with bench seat, and standing headroom under the hardtop. It's been exactly what we need here in northern Puget Sound for crabbing, fishing, day trips and overnight cruises throughout the area. (We keep the boat in Mystery Bay, Marrowstone Island, and appreciate its abilities in rough water, since we get our share when heading out into the nearby Strait of Juan de Fuca on runs into the San Juan Islands.)

Attached are a few shots of the boat. We'd love to hear from anyone else who owns, or knows about, the early lapstrake Luhrs boats.

Thanks,
