We recently got a 41 Luhrs CV delivered by truck, to do this they needed to remove the hardtop and some parts of the bridge. That has all been reattached but we now need to re-caulk all of the seams. I know if it is silicon I will have to do a really good job of cleaning it out so that new adhesive will stick. Ideally I plan to use Polysulfide(Boaterslife) or polyether(3M 4000UV) as it is considered to be the best, most durable caulk like product. I am thinking about ripping the rest out as much as possible with one of those plastic tools and rubbing it down with a scotchbrite pad and some alcohol. If it is not silicon I think I don't have to be as crazy as the polys adhere well to most substances just a wipe down with the appropriate cleaner/primer should have it ready to go. I am also thinking about boat life bondbreaker cotton string for the bottom of the seams so I can more easily pull it up when it needs to be replaced. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions about redoing the caulking on a Luhrs?

The boat was loaded on a 53ft trailer and had an extra wide load it was moved from GA to NJ. Much the same way a manufactured home is moved. The yacht transport guy we used had delivered some Silverton 50's from the NJ factory to a bunch of different places using the same method. The boat is here and they put the bridge back together in short order, it was quite the operation. Now we just need to re-caulk the seams and she is ready to go, it was supposed to go in the water today but that seems unlikely now given the weather.

SMB where do you keep your boat in jersey? We are currently in jensen beach FL and are returning back to jersey next week to atlantic city. What as your cost to transport by truck? vs running the boat back to new jersey?

Boat is in Cape May. Cost to transport by truck was 14k. On it's bottom might have been a little cheaper, but between a captain, fuel it was competitive. But we traded the our old boat and included in the price they brought our old boat back to the dealer. On top of the fact that it was winterized, not too comfortable taking a 900 mile trip on a boat that was dormant all winter. I know some people in S. Florida who don't like running up the hours to come back up so they put there boats on a freighter(60ft boat).
