On my 32 open I carry 3 extinguishers not including the built in engine room automatic system.

Right now I keep one in the helm, one in the cabin in the bottom cabinet under the sink and another in the port seating storage. I really want to mount them correctly but havn't really found the 'best' place to mount.

Where has everyone mounted them (pics would help)?

Thanks

Justin

here are two of my spots.

the 3rd is under the top step on the bulkhead going into the cabin. out of way and out of sight. you dont kick it either...

the one on the helm doesn't get kicked or bang up your knees all the time?

no it doesnt b/c i have my cupholder right there...the cupholder came first - i originally "mounted" it with silicone to make sure it wouldnt drive me nuts. i like the having it more than i hated hitting it so i screwed it on and then put the exting under it.

i actually move to the left of the seat more often now when i watch the cockpit or come in/out.

as it is i have to squeeze out as i usually keep the Stidd moved all the way forward and up high to use as a bolster which hits me right under the butt (i m 6'1"). The Stidd has a great height range and fore/aft adjustment. i m going to add a foot cushion on the deck this year since i stand most of the day while trolling.

I found a guy who can make custom brackets for std fire extinguishers. the bottles snap in.... This one fits the 3 lb. bottles. The base is 3 1/4" in diameter and the neck is 1 1/4" in diameter.

The plate can be anywhere from 3.5 - 4.5" wide and 7-10" long...

So it will fit nicely in the two areas up above and under the top cabin step....

email Frank at csnell1@tampabay.rr.com. They dont have a website yet but he can direct you to more pictures of semi-stock products that they are building from starboard.....really nice looking stuff and competitively priced. He works with his dad and is still in the early stages of doing this as a real business.

When you email him, let him know you are from the Luhrsowners forum - they are looking to build the business and hopefully will take care of us as a group.

I am working with Frank to create a clip on triple or quad drink holder for the pole on a rocket launcher and modifying the unit below to be shorter (no box at the bottom) to mount on the face of the port/stbd fish boxes - i plan for it to be as long as the enclosed knife sheeth and the lower mount for the dehooker will be moved up.

Another company that does very nice starboard and plastic work in this area is Deep Blue Marine ( www.deepbluemarine.com). He helped rigged out my Luhrs and my 2 previous boats when I lived in Florida. Contact Terry : terry@deepebluemarine.com

I have one mounted below the first step and another in the rear starboard corner. Out of the way and easy access with out going inside. Will get pic if you want.
