I am seriously considering putting an offer on a 2007 28 Open with twin 260 Yanmar's. Any recomendations or advice? Does anyone trailer this vessel occassionally? At 11.6 beam and 10,000 lbs it seems it could be done with permits? Appreciate all input positive and negative please.

If you take precautions, you should have no problems towing. I have a 290 Open which I towed over 900 miles. Permits are a must. If your 28 has a tower, it will have to come off otherwise it will be too tall. To take it off is very costly, I paid a boat yard $1800, that's why the tower is for sale now. Also do not believe that it weighs only 10,000 lbs., you can be sure that it will be closer to 12,500 lbs. I had a trailer made for mine, 18,000 GVR.
Good luck with your purchase.

Fever,
If trailering is main goal, 29 is the wrong boat. Too heavy, too wide and twin diesels makes it worse. However, if you want safety, great dry ride and an economical fishing machine, the Luhrs Open is your baby.
We fishing when no one fishes even the big boys due to the construction and design.
Hope to get you in the Luhrs family.
