Doing a little snooping around the engine room and removed the center walkway to find a couple of issues that need to be fixed.
1. A Airmar transducer has separated from the hull and was flopping around the bilge. I looked up the company and they had a cross reference to equipment that it could be used with.
The only thing that I saw that matches my boat electronics is a RayMarine device. Of course the Raymarine instruments are a Radar and a AutoPilot.
So not sure if they are tied into either of those, maybe something else.
I guess I will just reattach it and see what happens. There is one small instrument that is not displaying speed OR depth. It's not the big bottom machine it is a smaller showing 0 depth and 0 speed. When we pulled the boat out a few days ago we cleared the small speed wheel on the bottom of a oyster and had hoped it would start working again, not yet.

2. Also found what I assume is the high water bilge pump (attached higher off the bottom) with some duct tape holding it together. I plan on getting that fixed asap. I think what possibly happened there was someone dropped the walkway there when trying to put back in place.

3. We replaced the zincs on the shaft and I was surprised that there was nothing on the rudders. Are there supposed to be zincs on the rudders?

Thanks for all input.

Greetings, I run a 38 Open.
The Airmar transducers are compatable with most of the manufacturers, sounds like you have one that shoots through the haul so just glue it back in place.
Your speed and temp device is to give you that data since your transducer is not drilled through the hull, how to fix it is another story.
The bilge pump you describe is your high water pump and definitely needs to be reattached properly
I have zinc's on my rudders, trim tabs, shafts, and a bunch om my motors and gen.

Good luck

Phil,

I have no zincs on the rudders on my 2004 38 Open, but the rudders are bonded to the common bond (and the single zinc on the transom) along with all of my thru-hulls. The only other external zincs I have are on each shaft.

As long as your rudders are bonded, and the wire is not corroded, you should be good to go.

Same setup on the 35 Convertible: X-9 egg zincs on the shafts and A-25 plate on the transom bonded to everything else.
