What are your thoughts about leaving props on the boat or taking them off when the boat is hauled and blocked for the winter?
On my old boat with outboards I always pulled the props but I had outboards.
Not sure why I would need to pull them on inboards!

No need at all to pull your props on your inboards while the boat is on the hard unless you want to work on them or your struts. Have been owning inboards for the last 16 years and never pulled the props unless to do specific work on them. No one else in the yard I store pulls theirs either. Leave them on and save yourself some time and trouble.

I agree, no benefit to pulling the props unless they need work.

I think that most prop experts suggest that they be removed at the end of every season. most shops will scan them for free to ensure that they are not "out." The shaft, keyway and key should be checked and removal will ensure that the nuts/prop are not frozen...this also reduces chance of theft. nearly every boat in our marina has props pullled for winter....a new set of nibrals could run $4-8k depending on size....

I agree that pulling the props will help prevent theft - so I think they will be coming off the boat. They don't need to be checked by a prop shop since they were just reconditioned 6 weeks ago thanks to the chunk of wood that came up from the depths and smacked the props.
