Prop Specifications

Can anyone tell me the prop specs (size, pitch, cup) for a 2002 40 Open with Yanmar 6CXM-GTE's? I have had the boat since June and I cannot get the props right.

Go to Boatdiesel.com they have a prop calculator on their site. I think you have to be a member though but it's only $25.00 for one year membership.

Or if you know they are OEM then contact Luhrs with your hull number and they can look up the information for you.

We have the 38 Open with 6CX-ETE and it took two tries to get it right. Since mine is a 420hp I am not sure if the specs would work for you at 465HP.
We are running Nibrel 24x29 no cup and class 1 pitch. This is what the rework report says from Palmetto Props.
Not sure what you are experiencing to result is wrong prop. When we did this work we also had all the alingments done, lapped the shfts and had a slit bend in the starboard shaft. So we did a complete drive check as we were getting a vibration over 2200 rpm.

My 1996 38 with Cat 3126's at 420 HP called for 26X27 with a medium cup. When I bought he boat it had 25X28.
Over time I had them tweaked closer to 26X27 and that seemed to work better.
I have an extra set of bronze 4 blades that are tuned to 25X26 with a medium cup that I used as spares.
My experience is to use the best prop shop you can find. All shops are definitely not equal.

Thanks for all the feedback. I currently have 25x30 props on her and had them tuned in July. Once back on, the stbd engine lost 300 rpm (port engine reached proper rpm). After days of Yanmar mechanics checking out compression and injectors and getting a clean bill of health, I can only conclude the stbd prop was not tuned correctly and I am sending them back to be done over.
