Racor 2010 filter element

Hi all,

What Micron Level do you use in your RACOR filters. They are sold in 2, 10 and 30 microns.

The Racor filter is primary with the CAT fuel filter on the engine as secondary.

My engines are CAT Diesels.

You should look up boatdiesel.com, Tony Athens recommends using spin on Fleetguard filters, three in all. First a 30 micron, to a 10 micron then last chance engine filter a 2 micron. You can install a fuel bulb so when you change filters you can reprime easily. With three filters you are assured of clean fuel to your engines and no water entry. They are a lot easier to change, no mess.

I use the 30 and have no problems. My RACOR is just before the Fleetguard filters. I just change it every two to three months.

Do you have a 500 or 900 series?

Hey,
On my Cat 3126's my mechanic guided me to the 10 micron racor. The engine filter is a 2 micron.
I now have Volvo D-6 motors and Volvo specifies 10 micron racors and then puts two 2 micron filters on each motor.
I have not had any problems with the 10 micron and have been using them for over 10 years on 2 different Luhrs 38's.
