Drilling OEM wheel for Edson power knob?

has anyone successfully drilled the factory wheel to install an edson power knob? i know they make a strap version that doesnt require drilling but it doesnt look nearly as good and i really dont want to drop $400 for the almag with powerknob installed.

the Edson with the strap works great... no trouble with slippage. If you have to drill metal it is often good to start with a very small hole 1/6 th then work up to your size 3/8 ??? 3 0r 4 sizes would work. Also should be oiled often to cool .
