Looking for leads on raw Gas coming from port motor, from exhaust. A light film is noticable when at trolling speed or less. I believe this has only started the last trip... Some one has suggested, slightly open intake valve (carbon) or clogged injector. Any ideas??? The motor seems to be running smooth...The temp also is jumping around erratically, I had figured this to be voltage, Could this be related to fuel???

Well today I found out its not gas... its oil!! 3 qts. in over an hour run...head gasket???:banghead:

Many times if you blow the head gasket you are going to get coolant into the oil. If the oil is milky looking and you are blowing smoke you blew a head gasket.

From the sounds of it you are discharging oil into your exhaust and that is what is leaving the film behind the boat. Sounds to me like something in the exhast system - risers maybe?

Sounds to me like you have an oil cooler leaking. The engine uses seawater to cool the oil and transmission oil.

YES... Thank you dnkstarr, I will check this first. With the salt water like you say, this is a better place to start!!! Good call! Maybe I'm not going to miss the end of the tournament...:patriot:

Witeagle, Thank you for adavise...the other fluids seem ok. we are in the process of ruling out head gasket by your same reasoning. dnkstarr may have a good lead...

Well this seems to be it... oil cooler, nicely accessible did drain oil. Tourny is a month long thankfuly, since we are getting our butts blown away this past week. Tracking down new coolers. Thank you greatly. Again, No mach for this fourm!!!

Nice work crew!
100% oil cooler; looked not good, oil in raw water, pressure test failed, new cooler = no oil in ocean. The motor runs better. Also when it was removed there was a good amount of foreign crap covering 50%+ of flow. Now the heating problem is improved. I DID FIND RAW WATER IN THE OIL... hopefully a couple of changes and some product will dry this out! Test run checks out...I'm out at 4:30 am... Thanks !!
