Has anyone ever used the fuel additive "SeaFoam"? Does it do as well as the manufacturer says it does?
Please let me know,
Matt (Valhalla)

Matt,

Sea Foam is absolutly in my opinion all the manufacturer says it is. Personally, I use it in everything that I own. I think it is a very cheap insurance policy as far as removing any salt that has been injested into your engine and also helps to clean any carbon or build up that any engine is bound to get over time. I have yet to hear of any issues that have been caused by using it. Again, this is only my opinion and I have no way to give physical proof, but for my own peace of mind I do feel better using it.

Thanks Reel-Deals-1st,
I am glad to hear that. Sounds like you are a believer in the product.I have an older Luhrs boat and I am sure that it has some forty years of build-up. I can't see how it could hurt trying it. Worse-comes-to-worse I burn the tank of gas and not use it again. But after that review, I don't think I'll have that problem.
Does anyone else have an opinion on the stuff?
Thanks again Reel-Deals-1st,

Matt,

If you have a gas boat shortly before your next oil change use it in your gear case. You can also slowly pour about half a can into your intake while the engine is at idle. After that shut your engine off for about 5 minutes and then restart it and let it continue to idle. Its going to blow more smoke than you have ever seen come out of something that isnt on fire, but it is only for about 20 minutes. i think you will notice a slight improvment immediatly especially if it has not been serviced in a while.

Used SeaFoam in first 20 gallons of gas after replacing fuel tanks. Old tanks had much water and crud. Checked spark plugs and they look clean and engines are running great. Also used it in my sons old truck when he ran out of gas. Truck would not start after adding couple of gallons of gas. Added SeaFoam, engine started up, smoked like hell for few minutes but runs great now.

Works very well, in inboards and outboards,Contains an acid that removes carbon. I will remove plugs and spray into each cylinder and rotate the engine slowly. Spray some on the business end of a dirty spark plug and see how well it removes the carbon. Boatersworld has a similar product its in a black, orange and white aerosol can.
