I have Crusader 8.2 MPI engines in my 360 C and my starboard engine idles rough when I am idling in forward gear. I have practically tested, torn down and replaced a large part of that engine trying to remedy the problem. :banghead: Anyone out there experience the same problem? The current mechanic that has looked at it seems to think the idle speed is too low, but this being a fuel injected engine the idle speed is factory set and is actually supposed to be adjusted electronically by the Electronic Control Module (ECM). ANYBODY PLEASE!

I do not know about the engine but are you sure its not the alienment or the prop that is causing the rough idle? You say it is rough in gear is it rough out of gear?

What is the engine going if you try to run it up not in gear? Does it pop or will the rpm run up smoothly?

I guess I got too wordy.. typed a reply and it would not let me post said to renew the page and poof my reply disappeared.
Short version,
It only acts up in gear. The actual symptom is a rattle from the engine and it vibrates in gear (forward only). At any RPM above idle the rattle and vibration goes away and it runs fine. The RPMs run up smoothly. I noticed this problem when I replaced the transmission, thought it was bad tranny or install, it was pulled and tested fine, the damper plate was replaced and that stopped the rattle and vibration when the engine was idling in neutral. Because it originally rattled and vibrated both in gear and out of gear I dont think it is the running gear. Assume shaft was alined when tranny reinstalled, props were PropScanned several years ago and havent hit anything with them.

Just thought I would update my post. Talked to a tech support guy from PleasureCraft Engines (Crusader), I am going to pull the ECMs off of both engines and ship them to Crusader for testing. I have to say that I am very impressed with the Crusader customer support section, my engines are way past warranty and they have been outstanding in trying to help me solve this issue.
