serial #"s on an older 25

[classic 71 440]

Does anyone know if a 71, 25' has a serial # on the boat itself. Also when I bought this boat 3 years ago it was titled as a 1970, but when i registered it in maryland they said it was wrong before and is actually a 1971 because there is a 71 in the serial#. is that right? Hey by the way, how does a 440 in a 25" do? im in the process of removing a 360 and replacing it with a 440
a 72c velvet drive and a 2-1 walter v drive. any ideas on a prop dia. and pitch would be appreciated. THANKS!! classic 71 440

I know the hull ids back then did contain the year somewhere in the id. Good chance that it is a 1971.
