Ive Just Purchased A 2005 28 Tower And The Holding Tank Is Full.how Can I Pump The Holding Tank Out. "do All Usa Luhrs Pump Out To A Waste Recyling Mechanism At The Marina." The Real Question Is Can I Pump Out The Waste Just By Turning On A Switch Or Turning On A Sea Cock.

I would recommend getting the tank pumped out at a marina pumping station. In Connecticut we also have pump out boats that will come to your boat and pump out your holding tank. They are run by the State and are free. We usually tip the person running the pump out boat $5.00.

I have a 2000 Luhrs 360 convertible and it came equipped with both systems, allowing either direct pump out into the water or to a dockside pumping station. Being in the Great Lakes I had to disable the overboard system, but if you have a switch on your electrical panel that is labeled "macerator", and you can look see at your holding tank and it has a hose that leads into a pumplike thing that has another hose leading to a seacock in the bottom of your hull then you have the capability of pumping overboard so you could open the seacock and flip on your macerator to pump out. But you are dumping your untreated sewage right in the water... not sure what the laws are where you are, you might want to check before you dump, you could be in risk of some hefty fines if you pump where you are not supposed to dump.

Glad to be of help Richard, my very first boat was a 32' express cruiser, I hadn't a CLUE about alot of things, back then there was no forum like this to go to, so alot of trial and error. While our models are different I am sure there is alot of similarity as to the basic systems so feel free to IM me if you have any other questions. One word of caution if you decide to use your overboard pumpout system, be sure to close the seacock when you are done, this will prevent any backflow of water into the waste tank from the thru hull.
