Hey Luhr's owners,

My name is Matt and I am in Lower Alabama.

I have a 1968 33' Sedan Cruiser I am restoring. It's almost there. the maiden voyage/shakedown cruise is on memorial day.

Looking forward to talking with you all,

Matt

:) hey all,
The re-maiden cruise of the Valhalla was this weekend. It went great :001_tt1:. No major issues. She ran great. She went out under her own power and returned under her own power. So it was a complete success :). She went about forty miles, one for every year. I couldn't ask for more.
Here are some photos from the trip. in the photos are my Daughter Victoria, my son Zac (sitting on left trolling). George (our friend) on right in green. My wife Brenda in pink. I'm wearing red. The lighthouse is Middle Bay Lighthouse in Mobile Bay, Alabama.
Thanks All,
Matt (Valhalla)

Good deal on the first run. Do you have any other pictures of the boat? I would like to take a look if you do. -Jeff

The only other pictures I have of it right now is of the day it arrived.

My wife bought the boat for me as a Christmas gift and had it trucked down from Connecticut. My wife Brenda and all my friends (even some people I didn't know) conspired to get it to lower Alabama without me knowing. this went on from over three months. Well one day I was asked to help my friend Kelly get a bowlight for Boston Whaler from the local marina. When I came around the corner, these are the pictures of what I saw.

The perfect boat for me. Luhrs had built this boat right (they must have had me in mind), easy to work on (no fancy electronics to fail) and sturdy. The major components of the engine are all mechanical. And, everything is easily accessible. The entire back deck comes up (six seperate sections so you can choose how much deck needs to come up at any given time) allowing full access to the engine compartment.

Since then I have done a lot of work. She had sat for over two years in a yard up North. that starboard engine had water in the cylinders from a blown head gasket from before she was put up. I had to completely rebuild one engine. the other engine needed all new electrical. Rebuilt both carbs and raw water pumps. The interior has been fitted out with all new wood.

There are many more projects soon to be undertaken: new carpeting in the interior, power inverter system for 120 volt while out to sea, new paint, etc... (never ending).
