Hooked up the batteries today preparing for launch. When I checked the bilge pumps, one worked the other two didn't. The lights on the panels went on when switches were placed on manual but as I said two didn't work. It's vert tight working on those batteries in my 1990 34' Luhr's MY. I think I may have missed attaching one of the wires to one of the batteries. I don't think twp pumps would go bad at the same time. Any thoughts?

Perhaps the float switches have gone bad?

Wouldn't turning on the bilge pump switches at the panal by pass the float switches?

While the bilge pumps remain on when the battery switch is turned off they are usually not wired directly to the battery but thru the hot side of the battery switch. Point being that you probably did not leave wires off when installing the batteries. I would check for 12v at the non functioning pumps with the switch in manual. If the wire is hot you probably have bad pumps. If not their is a wiring problem. That being said it is possible that someone wired the pumps directly to the batteries and you did leave the wires off. Sorry for the confusion but both scenarios are possible.

had wires broken off two of mine at start of last season ! '91 3400, but pumps were not as old as the boat....almost lost her.

You were correct. Crawled around for an hour or so tracing everything back and discovered that the ground wire was corroded like it came over on the Mayflower. Replaced it and now she's good to go. Crawling around under there is like a treasure hunt. Found 14 cents, the 1/2 inch socket I've been looking for, a half gazillion old used crimps (not mine) and an old watch. Only drew blood twice. Where is Luna Sea? I noticed that she's not in her slip at Spicer's yet?

I like the "trasure hunt" part-been there , done that!
Luna-Sea is kept in Clinton at my friends Marina for the winter, it will be back at Spicer's next week.
