stuffing boxes

Any advice on the do's or don'ts of putting some new stuffing in the boxes?I've never done them before and would appreciate some sound advice or cautions.

It's not all that difficult pending you can get to them.

There is a special 'corkscrew' type tool that is used to get the old stuffing out. This tool will make your life 100 times easier so use it. Make sure you get the one that fits your stuffing box.
