I am considering repowering my tournament 400 with diesel's. I have twin 454's with 2.91 gears and 24 x 25 x 3 blade wheels now and they are running great since I redid them. But I want to convert them to diesels, since I am going to retire soon and travel the East coast and Gulf coast.

I have looked at Cummin's, Yanmar's,and Cat's and finally Detroit's. I am looking for dependability, and economy from the engines.

Any one have any suggestions that I can turn to to do a swap?

Thanks

I have heard very good things about the reman'ed cummins. The big question is, are you ready to spend 80-100K?

I've seen the Cummins online going for 8-12K each remanned. Thats not bad for the price. I will do the pullout and install myself. Do you have Cummin's now in your vessel? And how are they holding up with the power to weight of your vessel. What gear ratio are you using and what size props?

You will also have to replace your shafts, struts, props, transmisisons, provide return line to fuel tanks. This is going to cost in the neighborhood of $80,000. Taking into account the age of your boat, is it worth it.
