With all the talk of the 41 problems I was interested if the new 35 is based on the same hull ? It looks so much like the 41.I have been on a 41 and it did not ride as well as my 36. The 36 was a great boat and the new 35 looks very nice.Has anybody been on the new model ?????

The new 35 does not share the same bottom with the current 41 CV. The 35 has a length of over 38 feet so it is easy to get them confused.

Jolly Man - I presented your question to the head engineer at Luhrs and had him explain the rationale behind the 35's hull design...
The benefits from tunnels or “pockets” are reduced draft, better vector of thrust due to decreased shaft angle, increased protection of underwater gear if run aground. I believe there is also some old SNAME literature that shows that transport efficiency can be increased through the use of tunnels.
Although the 35 and 41 may share the same salty sheer line, have “tumble home” hulls and Carolina flare at the bow, they are very different in several respects. The bottom running surfaces are where the differences can be found. Donald Blount and Associates designed the 35 hull with our Luhrs family “look” in mind which is why one might believe they are the same.
We did a very careful weight study as this yacht (35 CV) was developed and we have reaped the benefits since anyone that has ridden on the boat has spoken very highly of it. Sometimes, boats that utilize prop pockets are more susceptible to “tunnel rumble” or prop noise propagating throughout the cockpit. This is not the case with the 35. In fact, our sound level testing has proved that this vessel has the lowest noise levels of any yacht we currently produce. Prop pocket boats also usually show higher propeller slip percentages, but this was also not the case with the 35 CV. The 35 with Yanmar 480 showed only 18% slip. One could usually expect slip to be in the 20% range or higher with tunnels. 18% is more in line with good full bottom boats discounting theories that tunnels are always problematic.
I personally sea trialed this boat several times up to 60 miles off shore. In 5-7 foot seas we were able to maintain a steady 23 knots with 6 people and full gear aboard in the head sea. The boat trolled very nicely and the 14’ 6” beam made the sea feel much smaller. I hate to sound like a commercial, but I have data to back up all that I am saying.
Hope this helps... Let me know if you have further questions.:thumbup1:

I have personally run many hours on the 35' as well as almost every other boat that has come out of this factory over the past two years in just about all conditions.
During our dealer demo the sea conditions were nasty to say the least. Wind was 15-20 out of the NE for most of the week. Our inlet gets stacked up when we have a good blow and on outgoing tide gets down right nasty. It was 7-8 feet in the inlet with very little room between them. This boat ATE IT UP and didnt bat an eye. Its been a long time since I have honestly been wow-ed by a boat and this one did it 10 fold. The ride in the new 35 is second to none. Its very soft, stable, tracks as straight as an arrow in big following quarters, and will turn on a dime. You owe yourself a sea trial if you are in the market for a new boat. It is without a doubt an amazing hull.
I am employed by Luhrs, but this holds no value as to my oppinion of this boat. Try it! -Jeff

Thanks for the information. I will look for this boat at the Ft. Lauderdale boat show. There is a rumor on the hull truth about Luhrs closing down the factory. If this is not true, will Luhrs issue a statement regarding all the BS being posted. Jupiter had some of the same talk and had its VP post what was false about Jupiter. Can you get Luhrs to do the same. All this is hurting the value of our boats. Again, thanks for the info. Cant wait to see the 35 CV

JollyMan,
Did you get to the Ft. Lauderdale show? How did you like the 35 if you did?
